Let's see...I know about 8 off the top of my head without thinking too hard.
The more the merrier though (oh, and make that 11 by the way).

Never heard of that before, poor guys .

Originally by: Sylone I've only met one girl in all my time on online games, and she wasn't on EVE.
As far as I'm concerned, unless they can supply explicit proof, they're a man.
Though I've never told someone to post pictures or anything. I'll just assume they're male.
From a woman's point of view, that could be quite insulting though. A better rule would be "Anyone who goes around flirting in public channels is probably a guy", that I might buy into.

Edited by: Sakura Nihil on 09/06/2007 12:45:15 Ultimately, until we start approach something like normal gender distribution, say 75% to 25%, this "omg ur a girl" stuff will keep happening from guys that don't braincells.
Sometimes, if they don't get the drift, a good virtual punch to the nose (like blowing up their nice mining barge) might be in order to show you're not a pushover. I remember my last corp, my right hand was an ex-Army woman that was bloodthirsty as hell, I never ****ed her off after those first days .
edit: Wow, yet another word eaten by the profanity filter. Pfft.

Originally by: Jubilie Ren'ai The one thing I have noticed in EVE vs. other games, such as WoW and EQ, being a girl, is that I am not treated like a piece of meat in this game! :)
And though people assume I am a man playing a female character, when they say something to the effect that I am a man I have no problems telling them I am, in fact, a female. And then to my surprise they don't hit on me or ask me to dance naked on the mailbox (a WoW reference)! This makes me very happy!
So thank you to all the men and women out there that play EVE for not treating me any different!
*blows kisses*
I'd chalk a lot of this up to the fact that a lot EVE players are over 20, with jobs and families - so, there's a lot less teenage testosterone flying around to begin with, then the fact that you generally can't be a childish whiny brat in this game helps weed out even more
I'd chalk this up mainly to EVE's demographics. Most players are in their 20s or 30s, many with high-paying jobs and/or families to take care of, so they're more mature to begin with. Combine this with the fact that this is a game where you need to have qualities like patience, intelligence, and the ability to work as a team to thrive weeds out more immature kiddies.
Got to love it .
